Jonathan Coleman, CFP®, CFA®

Financial Planner

Jonathan grew up in a family of teachers and always wanted to have a job that involved helping and educating. He ended up on Wall Street working as a research analyst for hedge fund Perry Capital before changing careers to find something with more of a connection to people and less of a connection to spreadsheets (he still quite likes spreadsheets).

For a research nerd who likes solving puzzles but wanted to have more of a positive impact on people’s lives, financial planning was a perfect fit.

Jonathan still enjoys keeping track of investing but has experienced how difficult it is to try to beat the market. He has learned that investing is only one part of the financial planning picture. As part of his work with clients, Jonathan likes to take the stress out of money and make things simple while helping to educate and empower. He likes the approach at Arrivity, where clients stay in control and where he gets to work with a wide range of people, including those just starting out and those ready to retire.

Jonathan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and CFA® charterholder, with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh. He is a member of the CFA institute of Puget Sound, and he was featured in the Seattle Times Money Makeover in 2021.

When he’s not reading about financial planning, he’s probably reading something else (mostly history and historical fiction), listening to podcasts about English football, or out and about enjoying the outdoors. He enjoys local travel in Washington state and Montana and visiting family and friends back home in the UK and in Europe.

Jonathan typically does planning for clients at the Scouting, Touring, and Journey levels.
