25 Ways We Help Clients Build Better Relationships with Their Money

20.) We act as ballast during the turbulent news cycles, recessions and elections, able to “talk clients off the ledge” to stay-the-course and stay invested.

Arrivity financial planners believe in the tried and true “Time in the market beats timing the market.” When people try to time the market successfully, they actually have to time it correctly twice. They have to sell before the drop and then also buy back in before the rise. This is incredibly hard to do – so hard, in fact, that even most professional active investment advisors with all their resources, training and years of experience, are unable to consistently do it correctly such that they outperform their benchmarks.

We regularly field calls from clients who are considering making rash, emotionally driven moves with their investments in response to the latest news cycle or headline. We get it – sometimes what is happening is concerning and does consider reflecting on and integrating into an investment strategy. Being flexible and adaptable is good – but being reactive and emotional when it comes to personal finances is often misguided.

We’ve found the best course of action in most of these situations is to talk it out. Our clients use us as a professional sounding board. We can listen to your concerns, give you our perspective, and discuss the impact of the potential actions you want to take on your financial plan and future. We can change your risk group and investment strategy to be more conservative or aggressive as desired. Even if you end up taking the same actions you were planning before our discussion, at least you’ll have greater confidence that it is the right thing for you to do and/or understand the ramifications of what it might mean for your financial future.

Please contact us at: Contact Arrivity or 206.217.2583 or info@arrivity.com if we can assist you or someone you know with financial planning.
